Why Checklists Are So Annoying
Ask anyone who’s tried to complete a sticker or trading card collection and they’ll tell you the same thing: finding the actual checklist is only half the battle. Once you’ve got it – a PDF here, a forum post there, sometimes just a photo of someone else’s spreadsheet – the real problem starts. You tick things off in your head, or on a scrap of paper, and the second you close the tab or lose the bit of paper, you’re starting again from memory. Multiply that by a 900-card set and it stops being a minor annoyance and starts being the reason people give up halfway through.
The short answer: most official checklists are static – a PDF, a forum post, a spreadsheet someone typed up once – which is fine for listing every card in a set but useless for tracking your own progress or telling someone else what you actually need. Why official checklists are such a pain in the first place
It’s not that the checklists don’t exist – it’s that nobody built them to actually be used by a collector mid-swap. A PDF doesn’t remember what you’ve ticked. A forum post doesn’t generate you a link you can send a swap partner saying “here’s what I need.” A spreadsheet works until you’re on your phone at a card show and can’t be bothered opening it. And once a set runs past a few hundred cards – which most modern ones do – just finding your place again after a break becomes its own chore.
That’s the actual problem we set out to solve: not “where is the checklist,” but “why does using it feel like more effort than it should.”
What we actually built to fix it
Every checklist tool we build now has to include three things as standard – not optional extras, a baseline requirement for any collection going forward.
View – once you’ve ticked your Needs and Swaps, you get a read-only results page with its own link. Send that link to a swap partner, a group chat, wherever – they see exactly what you’re after without you retyping it.
Edit – go back into the tick-box form any time and your previous selections are already pre-filled. Change your mind, tick off what you’ve since picked up, and it saves back to the same record instead of creating a confusing duplicate.
Floating nav arrows – fixed buttons that jump you straight down to the “Generate my checklist” button, or back up to the top of the list. Sounds small, but on a set that runs to 900+ items, scrolling to find where you left off is genuinely the difference between finishing your checklist and giving up on it.
Where it’s actually live right now
All three of our current checklist tools have the full set – View, Edit, and nav arrows: the Panini FIFA World Cup 2026 official stickers checklist, the Topps Flagship Premier League 2026/27 checklist, and – added just this week – the Topps Match Attax UEFA Club Competitions 2026/27 checklist. Any collection that doesn’t have its own dedicated tool yet falls back to a plain numbered list rather than nothing at all, but building the full tool in from day one is now the standard we work to for every new collection, not something bolted on afterwards.

Why this actually matters for swapping
The whole point of a checklist, for us, was never just “here’s every card in the set.” It’s a working document you use while you’re actually swapping – checking it against someone else’s list, updating it as trades happen, sending it to a group. A checklist that can’t be edited or shared isn’t really doing its job. That’s the bit that was missing from every official PDF and forum thread, and it’s the bit we built the tool around.
